Workshop Self organization Awareness concept How to be an ally The idea of Lesecafé is that it is a open space for everyone and at the same time we want to create a safe space for everyone. As we all have different life stories it needs good skills to fulfill that goal. It is an open space, where people come and chill, study, make music, grill and interact. People from all over the world are reaching here with very diverse backgrounds. So sometimes conflicts arise. Many forms of discrimination, harassment and violence already happened, as it happens everywhere in public places, but we don't want to let it happen, we want to take action for every discriminating situation, so the safe space becomes more real for everyone. For us the question arises how we can manage it better, to create a safe space for everyone. One very important aspect for us is, that at least the people who are more regular there, should learn how to intervene if something happens in front of them. Basically how to be an ally. Also if no one was there at the time, so no witnesses, how can we deal with the situation, protecting the victim and solving the conflict in a manner that everyone can feel safe again and in the best case the aggressor also reflects on the action and learn, so it will not happen again. We wish to have space for transformative justice, but of course it should not happen as a burden on the shoulders of the victim. To realize that, we want to discuss a awareness concept, find out how self organization can happen in a respectful and responsible way and how to solve conflicts. Marianne agreed to have a workshop with the organization team of Lesecafé and everyone who is interested to join the team. Marianne Ballé-Moudoumbou is in great demand professionally as a qualified interpreter and speaks several languages fluently.
